Limitations
In the last few weeks I've realised how important it is to be able to accept your own limitations and work well within them It doesn't mean that your are a failure, it means that you have developed the great gift of self awareness.

I'm back folks
Hi, I haven't posted for a while been busy decorating and getting the house all spruced up. I looked at my website recently http://www.taketherainbow.com/ and felt that I hadn't really put something in the ABOUT ME section that reflected who I am and what lead me to becoming a Life Coach. Well as soon as I started writing the keyboard seemed to burst into life. I quickly emailed it to Paulette and asked her to add what I had written. When I looked on my website tonight and read what I had written again I sat back and felt WOW THAT'S REALLY ME.

S.M.A.R.T Goal setting
Like many Life Coaches I often use the SMART goal setting technique with clients and in my experience its one that works. It's a simple technique and is an acronyn that stands for SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ACHIEVABLE, REALISTIC, and TIME FRAMED. What this means is that you need to set specific exact goals and not generalised goals. You can measure these goals so that you know when you've have achieved your goal. Achievable. Don't set goals that are obviously out of reach. Be realistic. Are you being honest with yourself? Time bound. Does your goal have a deadline?

Developing my own style as a holistic Life Coach
Its important to be true to yourself and develop your own style to maximise the impact it has on your clients. I am very passionate about Life Coaching and truely believe it can make a difference to the quality of people's lives. It takes great commitment to promote the value of Life Coaching as people often don't really understand what it is. I am prepared to make that commitment and promote its value because I have experienced first hand the incredible difference it can make to people's quality of life. Watch this space folks.

Things are progressing quite well since I ve decided to start my life coaching business. Exciting times. I really believe in the fact that as a life coach I can close the gap between 'life and dreams'. The thing is everyone has their own resources to solve their own problems but its my job to help you remove the barriers that may be in the way.

What is Live Coaching?
When I tell people that I am a life coach, they often ask me the question
"What is life coaching" So I would like to put the question back to you
"What do you think that Life Coaching is?" I am going to set up my own life coaching business and I would interested to know what people's perceptions of life coaching are. Looking forward to hearing your answers.

A thing of beauty
Hi
Just wanted to share this with you. Today someone gave me what looked like an ancient stone age flint tool that she had found while out walking. Many people would have walked straight past it without knowing what it was. As an artist she saw this as a thing of beauty and absolute perfection. As I looked at it closely I could see what she meant. Its a wonderful piece of history. How we take some things for granted these days and I felt priviliged to be given it. A present to behold that cost nothing in material terms but everything real terms.

Motor home
Hi
my partner Steve and I went out in our new motor home today. What a liberating experience. Ok we ve had a few teething problems and its been both fun and frustrating learning how everything works inside but today we had Sunday lunch in our own house on wheels at the White Cliffes, Dover. Amazingly the newly located exmoor ponies chomped away on the grassland behind us and I felt quite priviliged to see these beautiful creatures so close up. It was like they all turned up just for us because as we drove away they were no where in sight. Its been a very special day.

Its been so nice this week having some time away from work. It's giving me time to reflect on other areas of my life that are important to me and give my thoughts a good spring clean.

Having a positive attitude is about
realistic thinking. During the last few years I ve heard a lot about the benefits of have a positive attitude. This is great and I'm a strong believer in positive self talk. The important thing to remember is that in order for this to work you must be able to identify when something is BIG and when something is just a blip in the wider scheme of things. Thats what I mean about putting things into perspective. OK so think about this: -
"Its 6am on a bleak Monday morning in January. Outside its dark, cold, blowing a gale and pouring with rain. To top it all you have 25 miles miles to drive to work! So realistically you are likely to be suffering from a mild form of 'seasonal affective disorder' or more commonly known as 'winter blues' as you step into the shower. Buy hey this is reality! The positive attitude kicks in when you remember that in a couple of months it will be spring. This means lighter mornings and evenings, buds on the trees, spring sunshine and you will start to experience that feel good factor that can be forgotten in the depths of winter.
